Neuromuscular Massage

Also referred to as Trigger Point Therapy or Deep Tissue Massage, or Sports Massage, Neuromuscular Massage is a specialized style of massage therapy where pressure is applied to specific areas of the muscle.  These areas are often referred to as trigger points (or myofascial trigger points) and indicate pain and tension in various locations throughout the body, meaning the source of your problem isn’t always where you are feeling the discomfort.

After discussing your current pain symptoms, specific concerns and lifestyle factors, we complete a postural analysis to help hone in on the true source of your discomfort.  Your treatment plan is focused on these sources, performing a brief re-analysis and examination before each session.  Our treatment goals are decreased pain and discomfort, increased range of motion and flexibility.

While many individuals can benefit from Neuromuscular Massage, this form of massage is extremely beneficial for lower back pain, headaches, sciatica, tennis elbow, planters fasciitis, frozen shoulder, tendonitis, and carpel tunnel syndrome to name a few.   In more general terms neuromuscular massage helps:

  • those living with chronic pain, requiring medicine for relief, which is enough to impact activities and quality of life
  • those who have been given a clean bill of health from their physician but are still experiencing pain or discomfort
  • athletes and exercise enthusiasts pushing to maintain peak performance, injury recovery or relief from stressed muscles

We work extensively with many local chiropractors, physical therapists, personal trainers and gym owners in the Lowcountry and treat clients of all ages.
